Children Sleeping with Parents - A reason for tired parenting?
One of the reasons why we’re so tired is simple. We just don’t get enough shut eye at night. As you know we are great advocates of co-sleeping with our children, but sometimes the bed is just not big enough for them and us.
One of the problems we encounter is the older siblings cannot related to the fact that little baby sister is still a baby, so they feel rejected if they’re not on the same bed as well.
Our solution has been to sleep with them instead of the other way round. we’ll camp in the children’s room for an extended period of time until the smallest child is used to the “new” room.
Only thing is, during this transition period, we would sneak back to our own rooms to sleep in the hope that they would sleep throughout the night. For the case of our youngest daughter, the six months has dragged to about a year. She is getting better though, we’re down from 3 times to about one time per night on the average. Meaning we would start out making them sleep. Slip into our own room, and one of us would have to go back there when she cries.
Our promise land is when they can independently sleep through. That day will come…
