Dealing with Frustrations - Teach the Kids

Dealing with Frustrations - Teach the Kids. Once we are able to deal with our own frustrations, then we can begin to teach the children how to deal with theirs.

In our family, we have a kid who is generally very pleasant but really does not know how to deal with stress and frustration. We also have another child who can be quite irritating. All of us love her dearly for who she is, but everyone in the family including herself would agree with us that her tenacity and persistance can be a challenge to even the most patient person.

So, we often feel very sorry for the child who has to deal with a constant dose of irritance yet does not know how to deal with it very well. Her method is to bite. I know… sometimes I too feel like biting the other child. Nevertheless, these are some of the ways we have taught her to deal with her frustration when being tormented by her sister.
1. Try to put yourself in her shoes. What could sister be thinking?
2. Remain calm and ignore your sister. (however, this sometimes automatically bump up the other kid’s persistence and irritance)
3. Find a hobby to let out your stress. She likes drawing. So, we always remind her to draw.
4. Take a break by changing the subject.
5.Pray for your sister
