Allowance for Kids - Toys to treasure. This is my third and final part on this topic.
As I further ponder about the allowance thing, the more I think about it, the more I do not feel comfortable with the concept. Toys are just toys. Things must be put in their place otherwise, we’ll never get the perspective right. I noticed that when things come in an “unnatural” way to kids, they may then to get the wrong idea about its worth. Earning toys sometimes makes the toy more valuable than it really is. More valuable than siblings perhaps? whom they have never bought. On the other hand

If everyone is thought that everything in the house is owned by the family, then there will be a sense of sharing and importance to the members of the family can be stressed.
My thoughts are that there is no need to related hardwork for things or toys. It’s like relating hardship with nice things. They are NOT RELATED. if you are financially secured. What is more important is the heart and behaviour of the kid. For example, how to be kind, how to be considered and so forth. I would never want my child to have the impression that they need to work hard for things. That’s too materialistic.
