The Candies Kids love are the very candies that parents hate.
Ever noticed how they make candies so attractive to children? One would think that if they had the interest of the children at heart, they would try to protect the children from harmful chemicals. Most of the time, candies are just a concoction of preservatives, sugar and coloring. I also noticed recently that food producers have a new trick. In the front lables, they would state “No artificial coloring & No artificial preservatives” but once again, if you read the ingredients, they are full of something else called food conditioners, and acids. Enough about that, back to candies… Here are some ways to successfully sell candies (if you’re into that business)
1. They are usually deep red, psychedelic pink, bright blue and dirty yellow. So attractive yet so poisonous to our body system. Of course all of them are deliciously (or sickeningly) sweet. In lots of cases, taste doesn’t really count.
2. More importantly, they need wrappers from cartoon characters… Let’s see, princesses, Ben 10, x-men, barbie, power puff girls, dora usually work wonders.
3. Add on some collectable items like stickers, of figurines with every purchase.
As for me, my motto has been “what you never have, you never miss”. Nature’s beauty, fruits are excellent replacement. every now and then, I get them a piece off candy (sugar cane based, made from real fruit flavoring), yes they cost me a bomb but then again, they only get them on special occasions.
