Why are some children fussy eaters? Did we train them that way? or were they born that way?
This is a very interesting topic of discussion. I often find that parents get overly worried when their child is not eating well or becomes fussy about what to eat. They then succumb to the child’s wimp and fancy, letting them be the dictator during every mealtime. I am sure this brings some shivers down some spines? Very often we blame the cook, the presentation, the environment. Haven’t you met the family who packs their child’s meal to the playground? How many kid’s cookbooks are out in the market? Just google it
I think it’s time we give our kids some credit and actually root cause the situation. You see, it is my believe that kids often do not like being fussy eaters? I believe more often than not, its their appetite that causes the problem. A very bad appetite. Here are some reasons that may contribute to a bad appetite.
1. Weak Digestive system. The bloated feeling, Probiotics may help in this instance. Typically, root base food will help. For example, potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnip.
2. Bad eating habit. Taking a long time to finish a meal. Drinking lots of fluids in between. Walking or running around during meals.
3. Allergy - Lactose Intolerance would be my no.1 guess. Most of the time, the symptoms of lactose intolerance could be bloated, having the full feeling.
4. Bad training - Have you been putting too much salt in your cooking? Making meals too “tasty” from a young age would really spoil a chid’s taste bud.
5. Snacking between meals - Chips, cakes, biscuits, Breads.
6. Lack of Nutrition - You find that if your child is particularly unhealthly, they could also have a lack of appetite.
Solve the root cause and find out why your child does not have a good appetite. Solve that and 90% of your problems will go away
