Newborn Sleep Patterns - Is there one?

Newborn sleep patterns - is there one? Or is it like a unicorn, a mythical creature.
Well, there is the chaotic pattern, the keep waking up pattern and good pattern. Of course we all strife for the good pattern but sometimes, baby has other plans.

Interestingly, for some, you could almost tell during your pregnancy. Sometimes, if your baby is overly excitable during pregnancy like if he kicks a lot, chances are, the baby will not be having a good sleeping pattern or habit.

So what is a good pattern? For most newborns, they should only do 3 things. Eat, Sleep, No1, and No2. So for the first month or 6 weeks, they should be sleeping most of the time.
For most time, if baby is well fed; well burped (every feeding religiously); in a comfortable environment (not too cold or too hot): remember, perfect temperature is body temperature not your air-conditional setting and well loved. These are definitely recipes to a good sleeping pattern.
What happens when we have the odd baby who is be a bit chaotic or keeps waking up every half hour?
Firstly, check for the above. Here are some of my personal encounters as well…
1. Noisy Neighbours - Barking Dogs, heavy traffic. Try to drown the noisy with light baby classical music
2. Wind in stomach - Use some natural oil to warm up the baby’s stomach and wrap him up tightly
3. Drinking and Breastfeeding - Alcohol in breast milk will probably dissipate after 2 hours. However, some babies can be more sensitive than others.
