What respectable parenting blog would be complete without an entry on naming babies. In my case, naming my baby girl
Over the last few years we’ve had the previlage to find names for our baby girls. I think this is the most wonderful and exciting time for us to actually be able to pick a name that would be used for our future daughters. I initially had many criteria. Here are some of them.
Had to be uncommon
This criteria was most important because I did not want my daugther to have a common name. I mean “Rebecca” is nice but how many Beckies do you know?
Had to have linkage between siblings
This is a very interesting one. Here are some suggestions.
1. First letter is the same. So if your first child was Rebecca; second child would be Rachel…
2. First child, name starts with letter “A”; Second child, name starts with letter “B”
3. Letters of your children makes a word. For example, Janice, Oliver and Yvonne. - JOY. This is quite tricky… What if you had a fourth?
I think this is important though… because it gives the children a sense of belonging and affiliation to the family
Had to be meaningful - in a good way
I strongly believe that we should be bless our children. I wouldn’t call my girl. Sad-ie.
At the end, the more children I have, the less choice… Its becoming an uphill battle. Nevertheless, our family always enjoy picking a name for the new baby.
