Colic baby

The risk of having a colic baby can be reduced if the baby is breastfed. This is because air bubbles tend to get trapped in a bottle, and when the bottle fed baby drinks the milk from the bottle, the baby tend to drink the air in as well.

However, for a breastfed baby, there is obviously no bottle, and no air that can get trapped in a bottle. Which means chances of baby becoming colic is less. This is definitely a plus, because it means even if we don’t burp the baby as diligently, it is not life threatening to the baby as compared to a bottle fed baby. Any mother can tell you that burping an infant is one of the most taxing job when taking care of a baby. Some babies take ages to burp (like a whole hour), and it is extremely frustrating, especially when you are not sure if you heard the baby burp and you are extremely tired. For a breastfed baby, after we have tried burping for a while, and we hear a small little burp, we can just count it as a proper burp. And that is ok. The baby won’t turn purple. However, for a bottle fed baby, burping baby is a must, otherwise it could be life threatening.
