So, as a working mom, is breastfeeding /pumping inconvenient and tiring as one tend to imagine? Well, it depends on how you view it, and what is your attitude.
Breastfeeding your child is definitely a joy, but if the ‘thing’ that is sucking your breast milk is not your child but a machine, it might not be so enjoyable. But you can make it an enjoyable time too.
Since you have to take the time to pump during working hours anyway, you might as well make the full use of it. I will normally put a book in my pumping bag, so that I can read while I pump. This also helps in milk flow, as you would be more relaxed. In this way, you will not find breastfeeding to be very tiring, as you will be looking forward to that time. If your company has a nursing room, then you will also have other breastfeeding mothers who will go there to pump as well. Many of my good friendships have been borne out of the nursing room. You will not find it tiring at all when you have other mothers to share and chat with you.
As for the inconvenience, once we get used to all the washing and storing of breast milk, we will not feel that it is very inconvenient at all. It will be like brushing teeth to us - it will become 2nd nature.
