Breastfeeding, working mom - time to pump breast milk

Another common reason for working moms to not breast feed is that they cannot find time to pump breast milk at work. I feel that this has got to do with personal conviction. As a mother, does our career come first, or our children come first? Most companies will be ok with their employees taking some time off to express their breast milk, especially if we make sure that we get our jobs done. As a breastfeeding, working mom, we might have to do some planning up front, schedule our meetings around our pumping times, or rush around to fit the meetings and pumping in together. But if there is a will, there is a way. It definitely requires some inconvenience on our part, but I feel that it is all worth it.

If we get a good (near hospital grade) double electric breast pump, our pumping time will take only about 20 mins. Of course we need some time to wash the pump, and time to walk to the pumping area and back. But if we need to rush for a meeting, we can leave the washing until later (after the meeting), etc. Even if we are really so rush that we can only afford 10 mins to pump, we could still pump however much we could at that time, and most likely you’ll get a bit more milk the next round. Things can be a bit flexible, as long as we are willing to do it.
