The other important thing about making sure that your breast milk can be maintained or increased during pumping and breastfeeding is to make sure that you express your milk frequently.
For working moms, it requires a lot of discipline to make sure that we go to the nursing room (or whichever place that you have designated to pump your breast milk), at least every 3 hrs. This is important to keep up the milk supply. If you want to increase your milk, you can pump every 2 hrs. But I find pumping every 2 hrs to be impractical. Because you take time to walk to the place you need to pump and set up your pump. Then when you finish, you need to wash your pumps and bottles and walk back. It seems like I could hardly get any work done if I pump every 2 hrs. But I have pumped every 2.5hrs before, when I needed to increase my breast milk supply.
A lot of planning is required in order for you to be able to express your breast milk consistently every 3 hrs. You need to find ways to make sure that you can still attend the meetings at work without sacrificing your pumping. You could try to express before or after your meeting, or if it is a long meeting, inform your manager before hand, and leave the meeting for a short while to express the breast milk. It is ok if the gap between your pumping times is not exactly 3 hrs, but it is important that you pump at least 3 times within the span of the 8 hrs at work. I normally express at 10am, 1pm and 4pm.
