When she was 10 month old, I was badly sleep deprived. Just then, I heard from a friend that I could train my baby to sleep through the night. She suggested that I determine the time of her last feed at night, and her first feed in the morning. Then I should let my husband handle her during the night. If she wakes up, my husband was to give her water and try to put her back to sleep. He was to do everything else except to let her nurse to sleep. So we tried that, the first night, she took 20 mins to go back to sleep, and the time shortens as the days go by. By the 5th night, she was able to go back to sleep without fussing, and by the 7th day, she was able to sleep through the night. During the 5 nights when my husband ‘trained’ her, I slept in another room. When I came back to sleep with them on the 6th night, she didn’t demand to nurse either. We were quite happy with the results.
