Diapers (cloth)

Diapers (cloth) have been used for many centuries. In recent times, there are many types of cloth diapers to make diapering more convenient. Here are the types of cloth diapers that I have used.

  1. The most basic cloth diaper is just a piece of 100% white cloth which is breathable. It is very comfortable to wear and very cooling for baby’s buttocks. However, it requires folding and there are various techniques to fold them. This also requires hooks or pins.
  2. There are various types of baby diaper covers that can be used to wear on top of the cloth diaper to prevent wetness. I have used the velcro ones, button ones and those that is just a plastic sheet with ends for you to tie a knot manually. I prefer the button ones best, because the velcro ones tend to damage our clothing, and the plastic sheet ones are very flimsy
  3. I recently bought another type of cloth diaper that was manufactured to function like the disposable diapers. The cloth diaper is easy to wash, and baby’s buttocks don’t get wet. However, detergent buildup tend to be a problem, and the diaper becomes very smelly. It is also very costly.
  4. Another simple way to use cloth diaper is to just fold it into a flat piece of 2 inches thick, and put them in baby’s underwear or panties. This method is quick, easy and economical.
