I’ve always been very against using pacifier. Somehow, I just didn’t like my children to be addicted to something. But guess whatmy second child did get addicted to something anyway - sucking her thumb! So I guess it wasn’t much point to try to prevent her from getting addicted to the pacifier if she is already insecure. Because she will get herself addicted to something in some other ways anyway.
Can you believe it, even though my second child was seriously sucking her thumb when she was a few months old, I didn’t even try to give her the pacifier for even once. I just couldn’t get myself to give my children any pacifiers.
My first child didn’t need any pacifiers, and she didn’t suck her thumb either. However, we had to put a lot of effort to make her sleep. We had to rock her to sleep, and even when she was older, we needed to spend a lot of time to keep her company until she falls asleep. So I guess all children need some form of comfort to go to sleep, they just use different methods, depending on how secure they are also.
