My child sucked her thumb

When my 2nd child was born, we thought that if we let her sleep alone in her own room, we would get more rest. That was a big mistake.Well, we did get more rest, and she was a very easy baby. However, she started to suck her thumb since she was a few months old. Actually, the fact that she sucked her thumb made her an easy baby. She would comfort herself to sleep, which made our job very easy. We didn’t have to spend a lot of time and various methods to make her sleep, like our first child. She was not fussy, and was pleasant to have around. Even though I had to walk over to her room to breast feed her every time she woke up for her night feedings, it was still easier than our first born. This is because she was very consistent. She would wake up every 3 hrs consistently, and nurse for 20 minutes each time, and then she would go back to sleep. She never had the problem that I had with my first born, where the baby nurse through the whole night - I was the buffet supper.

So we didn’t think too much about her thumb sucking problem, and we used the easy way out and just let her suck her thumb. In fact, sometimes when she cried too much and it was not her feeding time yet, we would just let her suck her thumb to comfort herself.

Thumb-sucking
