Even with all the methods that I mentioned in my last post, the children may still be a bit reluctant to eat the vegetables. So we came up with this story:
We told them that the whole grains are the daddys and the vegetables are the mommys. Whereas the meat or sea food are the babies. The beans, legumes, tofus, etc are the grandparents. So we said that they need to eat the mommys and the daddys so that these parents can protect their babies in the stomach. They don’t have problems eating the beans, legumes, tofus, etc, yet they are healthy foods, that’s why we categorieze them as grandparents. We said that if they only eat the babies, when the ‘bad people’ come and attack the babies in the stomach, there will be no one to protect the babies, and they will cry. The ‘bad people’ refers to germs, bacterias, or whatever. So we ask them to eat lots of daddys and mommys so that they can protect the babies in the stomach from the ‘bad people’.
This seemed to have worked very well for all our children when they were young, and our meal times have been enjoyable.
