I don’t want my children to be picky eaters

One of the things that I am very strict about is that my children are not allowed to be picky about their food. I drum into them that it is important to eat healthily, because ‘you are what you eat’. I told them that if the food is good for them, they need to eat it, even if it doesn’t taste nice. And if the food does not benefit them, they shouldn’t eat (or eat sparingly), even if it tastes nice. They shouldn’t eat their meals based on taste alone. Picky eaters might have social problems in the future. To me, picky eaters are spoilt children. Children will only be peaky eaters if you allow them to. They shouldn’t be allowed to decide what kind of food they want to eat when they are young, before they can even talk properly, or describe things properly to you. Children can be trained, and we must always remember that we are in charge, not them.
